Little update..

Just wanted to send a quick update. Madison continues to be doing really well. This afternoon, she was moved to the floor (just 6 days after surgery..). The floor has been a little adjustment for both her and I. I miss our 1:1 nurse and knowing that was 100% ok, if I left. Today I was gone for about 20-30 minutes; when I came back, she was crying in her crib and nobody was around. I felt terrible. But as the night has continued, things are slowly getting better.

Madison is taking all of her meds by mouth. (Holy Cow... LOTS OF MEDS..) She now takes 15 medications. Last night and tonight, she threw up after her last one. I plan on talking to the pharmacist tomorrow in regards to the side affects (I just want another print out. I know there are 100's of side affects..) and any suggestions. Meds just might be our biggest challenge when we get home.

I'm exhausted. Maddie and I are off to bed. Good night.

Meds are so hard but they do get easier. Daxton had a really hard time getting off of pain meds. He went into serious withdrawals. I don't know what pain meds she is on but maybe that is something to watch for. The steroids are the worst but thankfull they are not on those for too long(6months-1year I think). Daxton is only on 3 meds and we are just alittle over a year post transplant. I know it is daunting. We will pray for her little body to handle them well.
We had several meetings with the pharmacist, she was very nice and answered our questions over and over. You guys are awesome. I am sad I didn't get to see you the other night. But I am sure we will see lots of each other.Hope you got some good rest.

O yay she's on the floor! I agree, i like the PICU for the one on one attention but it means she's making progress so that is great!

Michelle-It was so great to meet you and Maddie the other day. It was good to see her look so good four days post transplant. It gives us hope after the news we got. It's always an adjustment to the floor, but some of our favorite nurses are there. You'll find your favorites and keep a list so if you come back, you can have all the same nurses. When life settles down, us heart mom's need to get together. Good luck, and get some much needed rest.
